Daughter of Artemis -Part 2

Life at Camp Half-Blood

At 11 years old, I was attracting too many monsters to the valley in which I lived with the nymphs. To not raise suspicion, Artemis told the nymphs to take me to a normal school, so a satyr could find me, like how all the other demigods are found.

I went to the school, and that’s when I found out: I hadn’t learnt how to read, do maths, or write with the nymphs. Nymphs don’t home-school. So naturally, I fail everything at school. I can’t do the simplest equations. I can barely write a word. And, when I look at words and letters, they seem to float around, and I can’t see what the word is.

I was bullied a lot, because I was quiet and failed everything. Mostly I ignored it, but I always had an angry feeling boiling inside me.

Eventually, a satyr came and brought me to Camp Half-Blood, when I was 12. We only just got over the border, with monsters right on our heels.

When I first arrived, I got given a tour by the head of the Demeter cabin, Lily, who was 4 years older than me. The pegasus-stables were quite cool. The climbing-wall looked really dangerous, as lava was pouring down everywhere. When I first went to the place where all the cabins were, I instantly liked Cabin 7, a faintly glowing silver cabin. ‘That’s the Artemis cabin. It’s just for honour, no one uses it because Artemis is a maiden goddess. The Hunters sometimes use it, but not often, as a while ago they burnt it down. Long story’ Lily told me. I nearly said that Artemis was my mother, but then realised just in time that I couldn’t say.

I was moved into the over-crowded Hermes cabin, since I was undetermined. The space that was mine was tiny. I didn’t have anything, but a few Hermes people went and stole a toothbrush, some clothes, and a pillow for me. They were pretty much my only possessions.

The next day we did all these training-activities. I wasn’t that great with a sword, but a tiny bit better with a knife. I was quite quick in learning the basics of pegasus-riding. When we went to read Greek books, I could read it a lot better than I did at school. When we went to the archery range, on my first shot I nearly got a bullseye.

Everyone was real impressed when I got the middle of the target on my 3rd go. ‘Apollo’ I heard several other Hermes say to each other

I was still quiet, so I didn’t really have any friends. I was nearly always alone, but I didn’t mind too much. It can be nice to be by yourself.

After a few days, everyone was confused. The Hermes cabin often betted money on who was what god’s child, but no one could decide on whose child I was. Plenty of people thought Apollo, since I shot arrows really good, but I was pretty quiet, which made not a lot of sense. Apollo tended to be quite flashy and loud, which was completely the opposite of me.

‘I’d say Artemis, if Artemis wasn’t a no-love goddess’ I heard people whisper to each other as I walked past.

After about a week, I got annoyed with everyone talking behind my back. I still had no friends, and I hated being in the Hermes cabin by now. Multiple pranks had been pulled on me, one ending with me with whipped cream and confetti in my hair. I hated that I couldn’t tell a single soul about my mother being Artemis, I was getting bored of being another undetermined kid in Hermes.

Whenever I heard snatches of conversations about me being a daughter of Apollo/Artemis, I would get really mad. Eventually, I lost my temper, and I started yelling at everyone. People stopped talking about me, which was good, but people began to ignore me, which was probably even more irritating.

Eventually I made friends with a few people, but that was a few weeks after I arrived at camp.

I’ll tell you about my friends another time, but I won’t now. Going over this stuff still makes me mad.

So, yeah. I’ll just go and calm down before I get so mad that I get out a bow and start shooting people

Just joking :)
