Scorch Trials poster (from here), and the 2 notes that Newt left in the Death Cure (noooooo why?) (first image (the note Newt left in the Berg to Thomas, Minho, Brenda, and Jorge) from here), second image (the note from Newt to Thomas) from here)

(Most obviously, there will be spoilers from the entire Maze Runner series, so if you haven’t read the books, don’t read this post. Even if you’ve watched the movies, don’t read this post. I haven’t watched the movies yet, but apparently the movies are extremely different from the books (Jiya told me exactly what happened in the Scorch Trials movies, and it’s very different from the book).)

Hey guys! So I finished reading the Scorch Trials and the Death Cure ages and ages ago, but I forgot to write a post about it :/ But don’t worry, I remembered!

So I decided to squish both of my reviews of the last 2 Maze Runner books together in one post, because I can’t really remember exactly what happened, since I read it a while ago. So, here is what I thought of the Maze Runner books #2 and #3!

Scorch Trials:

Overall review: Definitely the most boring book out of the 3. It was still good, but in the first book, it was way more exciting, because like every chapter ended on a cliffhanger, and it forced you to keep reading, and in the Death Cure, there were more twists and turns in the plot. But it was still good!

Favourite characters: Thomas, Newt, Minho, Brenda, and Teresa (I know she betrayed Thomas, but I believed her when she said that she was forced into betraying Thomas, or they’d kill him, because Teresa’s title was the betrayer (something like that), so it was meant to happen. Teresa didn’t betray Thomas of her own will, she did it to save him. I’m not saying I’d forgive Teresa straight away, though, if that was me)

Death Cure:

Overall review: I think it was a lot better than the Scorch Trials. I still think the Maze Runner was the best book of the lot – so intense, and suspenseful, and amazing, and it’s basically one of my top 10 favourite books. In the Death Cure, there wasn’t as many dramatic moments and cliffhangers that made you keep reading, but the plot was quite complicated, because the Gladers and Group B had escaped WICKED, and ventured out into the Flare-infested world.

On a different note, I think Chancellor Paige should have more to do with the plot. She was mentioned quite a lot, but the only time she came in was when she saved Thomas’s life, and got helped him to rescue the rest of the Immunes. I think Chancellor Paige could have been more involved, rather than (somewhat randomly) coming in at the end to save the day

Favourite characters: Thomas, Newt (RIP :( Noooooo he was my favourite!), Minho, Brenda, Teresa (RIP :( I’m sorry you had to die Teresa :( :( :( ), Jorge, and Rat Man Jenson (just kidding! I HATE HIM AND HE DESERVED TO DIE!!!!!!!!!)

Random stuff:

Should Thomas have ended up with Teresa or Brenda? I think Thomas should have ended up with Teresa, but as soon as Teresa betrayed Thomas, I knew that Thomas was going to be with Brenda at the end, because I didn’t think Thomas would suddenly just forgive her, then fall in love with Teresa. I wasn’t surprised that Teresa died right at the end – I knew she would have to die at some point in the story, so Thomas could fall for Brenda :(

Is WICKED good or bad? Even though Chancellor Paige, the leader of WICKED, was good, WICKED as a whole is bad. They brainwashed themselves into thinking that they could find the secret of why Immunes were immune to the Flare, so they could create a medicine, so the world wouldn’t be destroyed. In reality , they destroyed the world trying to find a cure. WICKED took the innocent lives of dozens (like Chuck :( )

Saddest death and least saddest death: Saddest was Newt, he was my most favourite character out of all my favourite characters. Why was Newt not immune??? WHY??????

Least saddest was Rat Man. HE DESERVED TO DIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

Favourite book to least favourite book out of the Maze Runner, Scorch Trials, and the Death Cure: I made it pretty obvious that the first book was the best. Death Cure was pretty good, it’s my second favourite. I’m not saying the Scorch Trials is bad, but it’s most definitely my least favourite

My 7 favourite series in order:

1. Harry Potter

2. Percy Jackson

3. Heroes of Olympus

4. Maze Runner

5. The Hunger Games

6. Gone

7. Divergent.

Basically the Maze Runner is now my 4th favourite series!

Summary: Altogether, the Maze Runner series is awesome! If you haven’t read them, go to the shop and BUY THE SERIES RIGHT NOW. Then again, I don’t know why you would be reading this post, because I literally just spoiler everything that happens in the series, and at the beginning of the post I told you not to read this post if you haven’t read the Maze Runner series *stares suspiciously at you*

So yeah. Read the books. I haven’t watched the movies, but I really want to, even though it’s really, really, different from the books, and I sort of know what happens in the movies, but whatever

Thanks for reading my opinion on the Scorch Trials and the Death Cure! Comment what you thought of the second and third books of the Maze Runner series!
