(SPOILER FREE! (well, at least the start is. I’ll say when there are spoilers))

IT’S HERE! THE HIDDEN ORACLE (THE TRIALS OF APOLLO)!!!

If you’ve read Percy Jackson, The Heroes of Olympus, Magnus Chase, or the Kane chronicles – it’s written by the same author, Rick Riordan (oh, and if you haven’t read any of them, GO READ IT PLEASE! Maybe not the Kane chronicles – I don’t think it’s very good, but whatever…)

The Trials of Apollo is a Greek mythology based book, like Percy Jackson, and the Heroes of Olympus (I suggest you go read Percy Jackson, then the Heroes of Olympus, then the Trials of Apollo, because that’s the order of how you’re meant to read it)

It was released a week or two ago, and I was super happy to get it a couple of days after it got released! :)

A summary of The Hidden Oracle, written by me:

Apollo, the Greek god of archery, prophecies, and poetry, has been stripped of his godly powers by the king of the gods, Zeus. The now mortal Apollo seeks help at Camp Half-Blood, but Camp Half-Blood isn’t going too well. Demigods are disappearing, and the power of prophecies isn’t working. It’s up to Apollo and his friend Meg McCaffrey to save the day…

Who is Apollo?:

Apollo is the Greek god of archery, healing, poetry, prophecies, music, light, the Sun, and more. Apollo is the son of Zeus (the king of the gods), and Leto (one of the Titans), and is twins with Artemis, goddess of archery, the moon, and the Hunters of Artemis (a group of girls who become maidens forever for immortality). Apollo is very loud and flashy (unlike his sister Artemis, who is quieter)

What would I rate The Hidden Oracle out of 10?

8/10

What do I think of Will Solace and Nico di Angelo together?

I dunno. It’s not like I love Solangelo (that’s the name for Will and Nico), but I don’t hate it. I can see why people like Solangelo, with the light and dark thing, but I’m neutral on the couple. Oh yeah, and I don’t care whether it’s a gay pairing. Some people are gay. Get over it. The End :)

Who’s my favourite character and why?

I’m not actually sure. Annabeth, Percy, Hazel, Thalia, and Nico are my favourites from the Percy Jackson series and Heroes of Olympus series, but the only ones that were actually in it were Percy and Nico. Percy was only there at the beginning and the end, and Nico was there most of the time, but didn’t play a major part. Apollo is cool, but it got annoying when he was always like ‘UGHHHHHHH WHY AM I NOT A GOD? I HATE ZEUSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!’. Meg is pretty awesome as well, but she’s not really my favourite… So, my final answer is: I DON’T KNOW

What did I like?

I liked how the book was deeper into Greek mythology than Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus (duh – it was narrated by a god).

A lot of the mystery was really good as well, because the book made you ask a gazillion questions, and were answered later on in the book

Also, I was reading other people’s reviews on The Hidden Oracle, and people said that it’s quite a change from the typical demigod teen, which basically make up all of Rick Riordan’s other books. This time, it’s a god turned into a mortal who is very self-centred and has a massive ego. I definitely agree – I guess the other books tend to blur together a bit (but seriously, the other books are AMAZING!). My favourite line from another person’s review: Apollo is the Gilderoy Lockhart of this world and it is hilarious. (It’s so true!!!)

What did I not like?

I didn’t like the part when Apollo and Meg discover the missing demigods, and the Grove of Dodona. The whole book was leading up to it, and I feel like it wasn’t as good as I thought it was going to be. Like, sure, it was good, but not as good as I thought it was going to be

Also, some bits were kind of obvious. I can’t think of any examples at the moment, but there were some obvious parts

Thanks for reading, and happy Friday 13! (I think Friday 13 is AWESOME!)
