Image from here (I don’t really know who is who in the picture. My guess (left to right): Newt, Teresa, Thomas, Minho, Alby)

I finished The Maze Runner for the first time last Friday!!!!!

The Maze Runner is AWESOME, if you haven’t read it read it RIGHT NOW (the first book is AMAZING, but I heard from a couple of people that other books in the Maze Runner series isn’t as good).

Summary that I made up: Thomas wakes up with no memories of anything. He joins the Glade, and soon finds out that the Glade is located in the middle of a dangerous maze, monster machines called Grievers roaming the maze. The Gladers have spent 2 years trying to find a way out, and never has anyone found an exit. Weird things begin to happen since Thomas joins the Glade. Will the Gladers find a way to escape the Maze?

The actual summary: When the lift cranks open, the only thing Thomas remembers is his first name. But he’s not alone – an army of boys welcomes him to the Glace, an encampment at the centre of a terrible maze. The Gladers have no idea why thy’re there, or what’s happened to the world outside. All they know is that every morning when the walls slide back, they will risk everything to find out.

The book in 3 words: I found this on the back pretty much as soon as I finished the book. I saw a small bubble saying ‘THIS BOOK IN THREE WORDS’on the back, the 3 words covered by the price tag. I pulled it off, and the 3 words are: Cryptic – Pulse-pounding – Adventure. This sums up the book perfectly

Characters: My favourite character is probably Thomas, but I also like Newt, Chuck, Teresa, and Minho. I have no idea why I like these characters. I think I like Thomas because it’s from his point of view (but not first person, like Percy Jackson), and I think I like Newt, Chuck, Teresa, and Minho because those are the people Thomas like.

My experience reading the Maze Runner (SPOILERS): I already knew that Chuck died in the end of the first book, but it was still sad! You could really feel how Thomas felt when he broke his promise to Chuck, Thomas’ promise obviously was important to him.

I couldn’t sleep for a few nights (that’s why I was absolutely EXHAUSTED on Friday. It didn’t help that I forgot that band practice at 8am was cancelled, and I had to get up especially to go to band when I was so tired. After summer netball I pretty much ran out of energy and went straight to bed), because I had to go to bed when it was one of the more exciting parts.

I also went to bed really late as well, because I got up to the bit when Thomas jumped in the Maze at the last second. I was like ‘Yup, let’s finish off the chapter then go to sleep’, when the end of the chapter was ‘Then the Griver began to climb up the wall’ or something like that. I was like ‘Oh well I HAVE to continue. Another chapter.’ and so on. Finally my parents told me to get to bed, where I lay in bed like ‘Oh my gods what’s gonna happen next???’

Scorch Trials and Death Cure: My sister got the next 2 books for me right now, and is coming home with them so I can read them, but I have to go to summer netball soon :( Plus it’s raining and I really don’t want to play in the rain. I’ll probably write another blog post about the Scorch Trials and the Death Cure once I read them.

So I’m really excited to spend my weekend doing my favourite thing: reading. Apparently the next books aren’t as good as the first, but whatever, I want to know what happens next :)
